The past

 

84 Squadron RFC, commanded by Captain Binky Hetherington, has successfully defeated Germany's Jagdstaffel 69 (commanded by Hauptmann Klaus von Klinkerhoffen).

Binky's chaps are replaced by 16 Squadron RFC (commander: Captain Dick Shorter) allowing them recuperate behind the lines (with Binky keeping a careful eye on Nancy Gripham-Titely to prevent a successful desertion).

Unbeknown to Binky, German High Command have decided that the badly-mauled Jasta 69 should be reequipped with new aircraft and replacement crew, and given the chance to fight again. Surprisingly von Klinkgerhoffen has been kept in command - there are rumours about vK's sister having some intimate involvement with the High Command). The girl can obviously work wonders, because High Command are sending some experienced pilots, rather than raw recruits.
